• Sem Cohen

Sem is psychiatrist and a PhD-candidate at the Amsterdam UMC. His research focusses on how patient and study characteristics in pharmacological trials can be used to predict treatment outcomes in obsessive-compulsive disorder. A strong wish for keeping up-to-date on scientific progress, while experiencing a lack of time, brought him to start PsychAbstract together with his colleague Bram Storosum. In his spare time, Sem likes to go climbing and to read.

  • Bram Storosum

Bram combines clinical work as a psychiatrist with writing his thesis on the effects of gender and ethnicity on the efficacy of antipsychotic medication in patients suffering from schizophrenia and acute mania. A profound appreciation for clinically relevant research lead him to co-found PsychAbstract. His spare time is spent trying and failing to play Bach’s Italian Concerto for piano and refining his cooking skills

  • Junus van der Wal

Like Rinde, Junus is also from the northern city of Groningen and moved to Amsterdam to obtain his medical degree. He is currently working as a PhD-candidate the Amsterdam UMC and the Centre for Urban Mental Health, where he focusses on depression in vulnerable populations. He hopes that PsychAbstract will help to bridge academia and the daily clinical setting, and encourage readers to stay curious about what is happing in mental health science on a wide range of topics. In his free time, Junus can be found running or playing field hockey, or singing and playing the guitar.

  • Rinde Yildiz

Originally from Groningen, Rinde moved to Amsterdam to study medicine and currently works as a psychiatry resident at the OLVG Hospital in Amsterdam. She hopes that PsychAbstract will make reading scientific papers more accessible (and fun!) for clinicians, and spark conversations at the coffee machine about the latest scientific advancements. When Rinde is not working in the clinic, she either doubles as a professional concert violist, but also likes attend concerts herself.
